More info about this coffee

While we've brought you exceptional organic coffees from Tesfaye Bekele's Suke Quto complex over the years, this gem is our first from his Dida Hora washing station located in Uraga to the northwest of his homebase in Shakiso. Sourcing from 350 smallholders (average 2.84 hectares each), it's a selective harvest of matured cherries (21–23 °Brix). Wet-processed with 36-72 hour fermentation (18–23°C, ending at pH 4.0), then dried on African beds under shade for 22 days (10.8% moisture). Tesfaye's focus on quality control and lot separation consistently proves out in the cup: clean, naturally sweet, and full of nuance.

The Farm Story

Uraga's high elevation, volcanic soils and consistent rainfall create ideal conditions for shade-grown specialty coffee. The Oromo coffee farmers blend coffee with staples like enset, preserving biodiversity and economic resiliency. Tesfaye's 4 permanent staff and 70+ seasonal workers, plus community investments, are building a sustainable future for their community. As new to coffee, these producers bring enthusiasm and adaptability—paired with Tesfaye's expertise they will define Guji's next chapter.
