This coffee is sourced by family-owned farms near the villages of Curah & Kayumas on the island of Java, Indonesia. After coffee leaf rust stopped production in the low laying areas where they were typically producing coffee, farmers were forced to cultivate new coffee production in the high lands. The volcanic soil and high altitudes made the perfect environment for coffee to grow. This coffee uses a typical Indonesian process called wet hulled, which means they remove the parchment before the drying process is complete, allowing for quicker drying time and that distinct Indonesian low-acid flavor profile.
